A passion for the job

Business & Sales

Category Manager

  • Are you attracted by not only the creative and analytical sides of operational marketing, but also sales negotiation?

  • Would you like to conceive and be the driving force behind large-scale creative projects, and see the direct results of your endeavours manifest across the entire distribution network?

  • Then Category Management, a strategic profession par excellence, is made for you. Unlike project management, it is not the product at the centre of your expertise, but the category to which it belongs.

    Your key roles and responsibilities will include:

  • Increasing revenues for a category of products by optimising their impact on consumers.

  • Having identified the principal purchase criteria appropriate to the consumer group, you recommend and negotiate the implementation of action plans for a category of strategic products with the Group's distributors. The distributors then aim to stimulate purchasing decisions at the point of sale (product assortments, POG schematics, buyers' guides and category-specific advice, marketing, merchandising, etc.). You will need to be thorough in your analyses, creative in your recommendations, and possess excellent negotiating skills to ensure correct implementation in the distribution network.

  • You will drive these same projects with brand name stores, by fostering difference among Group brands, as well as coordinating possible corrective actions (customer satisfaction surveys, revenue analyses, etc.).

  • Your contacts are:

  • the Group's Survey department (shopper appraisal);

  • the Group's Marketing and Sales teams;

  • the heads of Marketing and Merchandising for brand name store clients.

  • The cross-disciplinary nature of this position means that the promotion opportunities are numerous: Director of Category Management, sidewise promotion to Commercial operations (Brand Store Marketing Manager, Brand Store Director, etc.) or to Marketing activities (Product Manager, Group Manager, etc.).
