L'OREAL AWARDED AT 2002 PRIX D'EXCELLENCE DE LA BEAUTE
L’Oréal Group brands won four of the top prizes awarded by a jury of international beauty experts at the 18th Annual Prix d’Excellence de la Beauté. The contest is sponsored by the prestigious magazine, Marie- Claire.
Fifteen journalists from the world’s most renowned women’s magazines came together in Paris for Marie-Claire magazine’s 18th Annual Prix d’Excellence de la Beauté.
How did these beauty mavens decide which products were the best? Innovation, performance and affordability, naturally. But also, in short, how enjoyable the product is to use (fragrance, texture, and packaging ….)
Created in 1985, through the years Marie-Claire magazine’s Prix d’Excellence de la Beauté has long been a benchmark in the world of beauty care, but 2002 saw the award step up even further in international prestige: journalists from the US and Brazil were part of the jury this year, which means the award will have even greater worldwide impact.
The L’Oréal Group Takes Home Four Prizes
Skin care products took center stage this year for the L’Oréal awards. Here’s the list of winners along with a few comments made jury members as the prizes were handed out.
In the Face Care category, Prodigy by Helena Rubinstein took the honors. “This is the quintessential anti-aging product. This is just the sort of fundamental care that mature skin needs.” Also coming home with a prize in the same category was Visible Results from L’Oreal Paris. “Thanks for giving us such a high tech product at such a great price…” exuded one of the journalists who voted for this product.
In the Body Care category, Skin Naturals by Garnier won the Affordability Prize for “synergy between nature and advanced technology in a product that offers total well-being and keeps the body in excellent shape… the fragrances were conceived to either relax or stimulate, and Garnier really worked hard on getting the scents just right… the colors are great, they’re bright and appealing and make you want the product right away… you wouldn’t hesitate a single second to pick this product up.”
Vichy was awarded the Jury’s Special Prize for it’s overall product range. The verdict: “For the past year and a half Vichy has been moving quickly toward basing it’s line on medical expertise. From Novadiol to the Lipidiose line… the entire brand has really found it’s identity… they do a wonderful job of putting lots of science into a product that’s a real pleasure to use.”
Prizes Awarded by Beauty Care Specialists
Renowned as beauty care specialists in their home countries, the journalists who make up the jury for the Prix d’Excellence de la Beauté contribute “their knowledge, their sensitivity and their originality as well as their particular vision of beauty” to selecting the winning products, explains Monique Majerowicz, the Managing Director of Marie-Claire magazine.
Hailing from countries as diverse as France, the US, the UK, Spain, Italy, Brazil and Taiwan, each of the fifteen members of the jury selected ten items from among the beauty products launched this year. The categories included Face Care, Body Care, Hair Products, Sun Tan products… The jury also has the option of awarding special prizes such as a Creativity Award and a Challenge Award that are not among the pre-defined categories. Prizes are given to the products that obtained the majority of votes in their respective categories.
2002’s crop of beauty care products really won over the jury. Ariane Goldet, jury president of the Prix d’Excellence de la Beauté, concluded, “The seven products that won these prestigious awards really met our highest expectations. They were all exciting, creative, high-performance products. It’s been a great year for beauty care!”
