L’ORÉAL TOPS WWD’S BEAUTY TOP 100 LIST
L’Oréal ranks first in the list of the world's 100 biggest beauty firms in 2007, established each year by trade newspaper Women’s Wear Daily. Posting 2007 sales of $23.39 billion (+8.1%), L’Oréal performed better than Procter & Gamble (with an estimated $17.8 billion in sales) , Unilever ($14.28 billion) and Estée Lauder ($7.47 billion) . The 100 companies in the list generated a combined turnover of $154 billion, about $14 billion more than in 2006.
L’Oréal saw its net profit jump by 28.9% last year to €2.66 billion, with all divisions and zones contributing to the gains, WWD recalls. The “Rest of the World” zone proved particularly dynamic, accounting for about 60% of the group's cosmetics sales growth, and representing 29.2% of overall sales. To fuel future growth, L’Oréal has pinpointed 12 high potential countries, among which Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Thailand, Vietnam and Dubaï. (WWD, 08/11/2008) .
