Education Educated in Paris, France, he earned the degree of Doctor of Medicine with a specialty in dermatology. This was followed by an MBA from INSEAD. Mr. Attal is married with two sons. He and his family reside in New York City. Career Laurent Attal assumed the position of President & Chief Executive Officer of L’Oréal USA on July 1, 2005.

Mr. Attal joined L’Oréal in 1986 in France where he began his career as a sales representative. Over the next several years he held various positions within the Active Cosmetics division before being appointed CEO of Vichy in 1994. One of Active Cosmetics’ major brands, Vichy, is currently the number one skincare line in European pharmacies. Four years later, Mr. Attal was named President of the Active Cosmetics division. In this capacity, he had responsibility for overseeing the growth, development and globalization of all the division’s brands which include Vichy, La Roche-Posay and Innéov (L’Oréal/Nestlé joint venture of Nutricosmetics). Dedicated to dermocosmetic skincare products sold in pharmacies, Active Cosmetics is today the fastest growing division in the L’Oréal Group, found in countries worldwide, including high potential areas such as China, Russia, India and Brazil.

In 2002, in addition to overseeing Active Cosmetics, Mr. Attal was asked to head up Galderma, a pharmaceutical laboratory and a joint venture with Nestlé. That same year Lindsay Owen-Jones, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of L’Oréal appointed him a member of the company’s Executive Committee.
