Interview of the Director of Ethics
Emmanuel LULINDirector of Ethics
What is your role as Director of Ethics?
Our CEO and the Management Committee play a major role in setting the tone for the rest of the organization but ultimately, it is the Country Managers who are responsible for ensuring the every-day respect of our values. The Human Resources community also plays an important role in providing employees with a place to talk and raise concerns.
In fact, everyone within the company has a role to play. The Director of Ethics acts as a reference and a guarantee that all concerns will be addressed. In practice, this involves promoting and implementing ethical best practices namely by:
- offering training and advice
- measuring and assessing the Group’s performance on ethical issues
- ensuring respect of L’ORÉAL’s ethical standards
- addressing concerns and taking corrective action when required.
In order to carry out my mission, I report directly to our CEO and I have full access to all information and documents relating to L’ORÉAL’s activities.
All L’ORÉAL managers are expected to show ethical leadership and to take decisions in an ethical manner. Two new management competencies have been integrated into L’Oréal’s annual appraisal system: “Leading with Human Sensitivity” and “Achieves results with integrity”.
Finally, all employees, whatever their position and wherever they operate know that they will be recognised not only for what they do but also on the way they do it.
