Fondation Nicolas Hulot
Created in 1990 by Nicolas Hulot, the Nicolas Hulot Foundation is the only officially recognised Foundation that specialises in education on the environment. Its mission is to help develop changes in behaviour, the aim being a new form of society based on sustainable development and mutual support, where every person has a role to play.A founding partner of the Nicolas Hulot Foundation since 1995, L’Oréal provides financial support to all the programmes organised around four themes: climate and energy economies, sustainable and mutually supportive food, biodiversity and territories, and sustainable management of the coastline and marine environments.
In 2007, L’Oréal raised awareness among its French employees of environmental issues and climate change through the campaign entitled "Défi pour la Terre" (Earth Challenge for the Earth) launched by the Hulot Foundation and ADEME (agency for the environment and energy control).
In 2009, the Carbon Day organised within the Group provided an occasion to invite the scientific consultant Hélène Leriche to discuss environmental issues, with a particular focus on food and biodiversity. In the spring, the staff from all sites responding to the "Earth Challenge" were educated about local, high-quality and seasonal food through the Hulot Foundation's "Des fraises au printemps" ("Strawberries in spring") operation.
