Sport courts, a TV room, karaoke room, gym and a small library have been introduced to improve the standard of living of resident employees.<br/><br/>Intertek’s initial audit detected some opportunities for further improvement. 	obj.page_texte = LOC.htmlEncode("<strong>Firmly committed to supporting the communities in which it does business, L’Oréal USA initiated the first Employee Volunteer Day in 2006.</strong><br/><br/>Building upon the numerous local and national charities that the subsidiary supports with cash grants and product donations, employees in the American headquarters’ New York City office were invited to give their time and talents to help those less fortunate.<br/><br/>In partnership with New York Cares, a volunteer organization that matches volunteers with the needs of charities in the five New York boroughs, L’Oréal full-time employees were offered the opportunity to volunteer during regular work hours on one of 12 volunteer projects. Several months in advance of the event, team leaders were identified and trained to the lead project activities on Volunteer Day. An on-site Volunteer Fair was hosted to showcase projects and charitable partners and to offer employees a chance to learn more about Volunteer Day.<br/><br/>Over 420 employees from all divisions and management levels demonstrated their commitment to helping others by preparing meals for the sick or homeless; reading to disadvantaged children; playing bingo with the elderly; helping victims of domestic violence get a new start in life; assisting the unemployed in resume preparation and interview skills; and raking, cleaning and planting at an East Side ecological centre— among many other things.<br/><br/>Planning is underway for the 2007 L’Oréal USA Volunteer Day and more than 600 employees are expected to participate in what has become an annual event.<br/><br/><a href='http://www.nycares.org' target='_blank'>www.nycares.org</a>");

The first “Diversity Career” fair (“Diversità al lavoro”), organised by L’Oréal Italy, Sodalitas, UNAR (Government Anti-Racial Discrimination Office) and the national economic newspaper Il Sole 24 ore, took place at the newspaper’s headquarters in Milan. Eighteen companies and 350 candidates, foreigners and disabled people, participated in the event. As a result, 20 people have been or are in the process of being hired by L’Oréal. The next “Diversità al lavoro” fair takes place in April 2009 at L’Oréal’s office in Milan.<br /><br />2. L’Oréal Italy took part in the “Laboratory on multiculturalism”, set up by Sodalitas, UNAR, and other companies. The objective is to compile a guide of best practices and policies on diversity. The guide is due to be released in June 2009.<br /><br />3. 264 managers were trained in diversity and L’Oréal Italy launched its internal Diversity programme focusing on specific issues relevant to the subsidiary and to the country.
