At L’Oréal, we believe that there is no sustainable progress without sharing and that there is no global success without social vision. So we have created the “L’Oreal Share and Care” program A worldwide social program, that seeks to guarantee security, protection and well-being for all our employees, wherever they are in the world. By the end of 2015, all of L’Oréal’s employees, wherever they work and whatever they do, will, have access to the best possible social benefits in four key areas: Health, Care Security, Protect Parenthood, Balance and quality of life at work (quality of work environment), Enjoy. The health of our employees and their families is our main underlying concern. L’Oréal will provide the highest quality healthcare coverage and access to the best possible care. In Chile, the program has allowed Maria to look after her little girl, Ignacia. My youngest daughter was born a year ago. She suffered major problems with allergies, for which we were unable to get a clear diagnosis. She had to go through some very expensive genetic tests, which weren’t covered by the public or private healthcare systems. I don’t know what we would’ve done without the help I received from L’Oréal, or where she’d be today. I’m very happy now and I feel protected. I couldn’t imagine working for a business that doesn’t offer me this type of support. And Ignacia is now completely cured. We also want to support and protect our employees and their families when they face major issues, such as disability or death. With Share and Care, L’Oréal will guarantee a capital sum of at least two years’ salary. Today, I feel happy because I know my family and I are secure. I have three children and I’m the only person in my family who works, and their welfare is very important to me. I do hope nothing ever happens to me, but if it should, I feel more reassured with this program. Our third aim is to strengthen our commitment to supporting parenthood. Many of our employees are also parents, and we want to help them maintain a balanced family life. For example, all mothers-to-be will get at least 14 weeks’ maternity leave on full pay. That’s a major step forward in some countries, where the legislation only requires half that amount. When I had my first child I was working for another company and only got eight weeks’ maternity leave. At L’Oréal Malaysia, we now get 14 weeks’ maternity leave, which gives me another six weeks to recover and take care of my baby. After 14 weeks off, I’ll be able to return to my job well-rested and with confidence. Finally, since we ask a lot of our employees , we’re committed to offering them the best quality of life at work. Share and Care will be a platform of progress in this area. From a welcoming environment to in-house services, from stress prevention to remote working policies, every subsidiary is encouraged to create its own initiatives. The work we do is quite demanding, in a fast-paced environment with lots of meetings, which of course makes it very exciting. But in the meantime, a real effort is made to make our life easier. I think it’s a real chance that the company does that. Just like Maria, Midal Shereen and Fanny, all our employees will soon be able to take advantage of the best social benefits in their country. Our subsidiaries are already coming up with new ideas and launching new projects. Because with L’Oreal Share and Care we aim to create social innovation everywhere in the world. To support our employees’ outstanding engagement.
