Adding Value to Generational Differences

In 2006, L’Oréal Canada initiated an innovative training program focused on intergenerational links, based on the fact that three different generations were working together at the company. The goal: to undermine prejudices and taboos by engaging in open dialog between generations and creating value, based on better understanding. As a consequence, L’Oréal Canada was ranked as one of the Top 100 Diversity Employers in 2009.

L’Oréal Kids

In 2002, L’Oréal Canada launched the L’Oréal Kids day care center, which takes in 36 children of L’Oréal employees. This initiative has since been followed by other subsidiaries, which have set up multi-company day cares. Since 2008, L’Oréal Germany’s day care center provides space for 18 children. In France, 75 cribs are provided in the five multi-company day care centers that have been established near the workplace. Spain, Italy and Mexico have also undertaken similar initiatives.
