L’Oréal at Viva Technology Paris

Beauty for all & Beauty for each powered by Beauty Tech

Discover our latest innovations

From the 22nd to the 25th of May 2024, Paris hosted the most recent edition of Europe's largest technology and innovation exhibition, VivaTech. An essential event on the calendar for any organisation concerned with innovation, the exhibition focused on several contemporary themes, most notably artificial intelligence, sustainability and inclusion.

L'Oréal was in attendance, showcasing its latest technologies at a highly successful interactive exhibition stand. Chief among these were Beauty Genius, Skin technology and the Airlight Pro.

Illustrating the power of artificial intelligence, Beauty Genius leverages advanced diagnostics and personalised advice to provide users with a bespoke beauty experience. By tailoring recommendations to individual needs, it also streamlines the shopping experience.

Similarly, Kiehl’s Derma Reader scans the face and generates an individualised analysis by combining the epidermis youthfulness index with other features and metrics, such as the presence of fine lines and wrinkles, skin texture, dark spots, firmness, visible pores and UV damage. This allows for a truly transformative approach to skin care.

The L'Oréal team also demoed the Airlight Pro, a next-gen hair dryer that emphasises delicate hair care and respect for the environment. Utilising infrared light and air flows, it dries hair quickly and without excess wasted heat, reducing energy consumption. Developed with Zuvi, a tech-focused startup, the Airlight Pro has benefitted from the experience and expertise of over 100 engineers, designers, hairdressers and scientists from L'Oréal's Research & Innovation Division.

Showcasing sustainable development with our startup partners

L'Oréal also used the VivaTech show to present several sustainable development projects. Among these is the work with IMPACT+, a French startup from Sustaintech which operates in more than 60 countries. IMPACT+ measured the carbon footprint of the L'Oréal Group's digital media, identifying several reduction levers and adjusting campaigns to reduce CO2 emissions.

Another French startup and L'Oréal partner, FRUGGR, measured the L'Oréal website’s carbon footprint and created a dashboard that enabled the brand to quantify the impact, improve performance and further reduce CO2.

Finally, ADGREEN, a Greentech partner, measured the carbon footprint of content production. It identified areas where it could be reduced during media filming. As a result, new measures have been introduced for video shoots, facilitating more eco-friendly content production.
