L'Oréal Canada announces the appointment of Stéphane Bérubé as President and Chief Executive Officer

Following a mandate marked by major transformations, An Verhulst-Santos is appointed non-executive Chairwoman of L'Oréal Brazil.

In agreement with the General Management of the L'Oréal Group, L'Oréal Canada is pleased to announce the appointment of Stéphane Bérubé as President and Chief Executive Officer. This appointment marks a historic milestone for the Canadian subsidiary, as Mr. Bérubé becomes the first Canadian to lead the organization in Canada. He succeeds An Verhulst-Santos, who, after an outstanding five-year mandate in Montreal, is appointed non-executive Chairwoman of L'Oréal Brazil, a first for the Group.

A graduate of Université Laval and INSEAD, Stéphane Bérubé gained recognition early in his professional career with his nomination to Marketing Magazine's "30 Under 30" list. He joined L’Oréal Canada in 2002 as Marketing Director for Maybelline New York. From the outset, his bold partnership with Star Académie made a lasting impression, earning him the title of "Marketer of the Year" in 2004. This first milestone sparked a brilliant career trajectory within the L’Oréal Group. In 2007, he took over as General Manager of L’Oréal Paris, the Group's signature brand.

Appointed Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) in 2014, he orchestrated the subsidiary's digital transformation, turning it into a model of innovation. This success opened the doors to international opportunities in 2017, when he took on the role of CMO for the United Kingdom and Western Europe, based in London.

Returning to Canada in 2019, he was appointed President of the Consumer Products Division (including the brands L’Oréal Paris, Garnier, NYX, Thayers, Maybelline New York, and Essie), a strategic engine of L'Oréal Canada. Under his leadership, the division recorded sales growth of nearly 50%, coupled with an impressive acceleration in e-commerce and major market share gains.

Today, at the head of the subsidiary, he embodies the L’Oréal Group's purpose, Create the Beauty That Moves the World, with a constant determination to connect brands with the diverse needs and aspirations of Canadian consumers.

A Quebecer at heart, Canadian in vision, and global citizen by vocation, Stéphane is a bold leader who knows how to seize what is starting and always looks further ahead. Committed far beyond business, he has served for over ten years on the board of directors of La Fondation En Cœur, whose mission is to support children with heart disease and their families.
