L’Oréal Hellas held its “Citizen Day” on June 14th, a day of community volunteering that allows all employees to devote a full day of work time to bringing their skills and energy to social and environmental organisations or NGOs. It is the 10th consecutive year that L’Oréal Hellas is organizing this event.
720 volunteer hours to support various causes
A large number of employees participate each year in this day of community volunteering. In 2018, employees supported Make-A-Wish Greece, representing a total 720 volunteer hours.
This year and for the 2nd consecutive year, 180 L’Oréal Hellas employees supported Make-A-Wish Greece for Citizen Day 2019, preparing the informational material that the NGO sends to schools all over Greece, in an effort to further drive awarness of the NGO across the country.
In an atmosphere of contribution, devotion and teamwork, the employees packed 14,500 informative letters that will be sent to all schools around Greece and counted 100,000 Stars of Wish which will reach every corner of the country. Thanks to their valuable contribution, Make-A-Wish Greece’s informative program for schools will reach even more cities and schools in Greece, enabling everyone to become part of a great chain of love and to provide a more beautiful future to children in need.
"This initiative demonstrates each year the outstanding commitment and solidarity of our employees with local communities and the world around us.” said Mehdi Khoubbane, L’Oréal Hellas Country Manager. "Citizen Day is at the core of our corporate culture and a source of shared pride.”
Sandra Zafeirakopoulou, General Manager of Make-A-Wish Greece, after the completion of the day, stated: “There are no words for L’Oréal and its people. They’ve believed in our work and today we’ve experienced one of the most beautiful moments with them. Last year on the same day, we planed the wishes of 10 children and this year we’ve welcomed one of them transformed. This time, employees organized all material for the Star of Wish program, helping the work of our organization with their volunteer work. It is very emotional and a testament to the commitment of the company to social contribution, which is not limited to donations. Thank you is the only appropriate word, with emphasis in every letter!”
At Group level, L’Oréal celebrates Citizen Day’s 10th anniversary and more than 1 million volunteer hours
Created in 2010, this annual volunteering day has enabled employees from nearly 65 countries to offer more than one million cumulative volunteer hours to hundreds of non-profit organisations and their beneficiaries. Every year, nearly 30,000 employees take part in the various solidarity initiatives proposed during Citizen Day.
“Trying to have a positive impact collectively on people who need it is a source of pride for all employees of our subsidiaries around the world.” said Alexandra Palt, Chief Corporate Responsibility Officer of L’Oréal. “L'Oréal considers that it is its responsibility to provide employees the means to take action and to make concrete contributions, because every action counts with regard to the current social and environmental needs.”
