At the end of 1997, L'ORÉAL created, in Japan, the L'ORÉAL Art & Science Foundation in the aim of regrouping artists and scientists around common issues.
Almost automatically, color appeared as the historic link between art and Science. For L'ORÉAL, color is at the heart of its products, and as a result, at the heart of its research too.
The L'ORÉAL Art & Science Foundation created the L'Oreal Art & Science of Color Prize, rewarding each year artists or scientists working on color. First created in Japan, this prize has become international.
And, to encourage exchange between artists and scientists, the Foundation carried out two further activities in Japan, these too have become international :
|
| The
L'Oreal Art & Science of Color Workshop |
An annual meeting between artists and scientists that wish to work together on the significance and use of color in the varied domains of science, technology, fashion, design... The prize winners and certain members of the jury are invited to present their work.
|
| The
Color Research Seminar |
Researchers, engineers, psychologists or artists, are regularly invited to analyze the most up to date fashions and innovations in color, together.
|
| |
The Foundation has provided venues for scientists and artists to meet, focusing upon color such as the L'ORÉAL Art and Science of Color Prize for the past decade or so. However, the Foundation will close its activity at the end of this year. We would like to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude for your warm support for our Foundation during these years.
