Clichy, 2 November 2020 – At the occasion of the 31st International Federation of Societies of Cosmetic Chemists (IFSCC) Congress 2020, L’Oréal R&I unveiled its latest advances in skin and hair research. Among the 441 projects selected by the Japanese jury, L’Oréal R&I was present of half of the program defined by the scientific committee, with 7 podiums and 34 posters. L’Oréal researchers, coming from 8 countries (France, Japan, Brazil, United States, Singapore, India, South Africa and China) were able to highlight the excellence of their work and the diversity of their expertise.
This year, the IFSCC award for Applied Research was attributed to Sacha Salameh for her presentation on a new vascularized reconstructed skin model. After 40 years of research on skin engineering, L’Oréal R&I reaches a new milestone in the development of skin model that better mimics real human skin and confirms its leadership for the development of alternative methods. This new research tool will allow researchers to better understand the skin, and in particular its interactions with the interior of the body via the bloodstream.

To complete this award, among the 372 posters presented, the jury has selected the 10 best scientific presentations. Two L’Oréal R&I posters are ranked in the top ten:
• Metabolomics, the cornerstone between microbiome and skin functions to understand Pollution mediated Effects, Namita Misra, Philippe Bastien, Florent Guinot, Nasrine Bourokba, Stephanie Nouveau, Janice Yeo, Lionel Breton, Marcus H. Y. Leung, Patrick K. H. Lee, Cécile Clavaud, Nükhet Cavusoglu.
• Real-Life Face-Video System: Capturing and Analyzing Complex Color and Shine Effects M. Doumi, Nilesh Shah, Margarita Yatskayer.
