L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science: Empowering a Generation of Female Researchers

St. Augustine, Trinidad, 27 November 2023 – “The world needs science and science needs women”. The Young Talents Caribbean Region L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science (FWIS) program is a partnership between L’Oréal Caribe, the UNESCO Office for the Caribbean, with the support of the Caribbean Academy of Sciences – seeking to connect the dots between Caribbean development challenges, scientific research, and female empowerment by recognizing and honoring two young scientists with an endowment of $10,000 USD to further develop their scientific endeavors.

L'Oréal Groupe: L’Oréal Fund For Women makes charitable donation to the Coalition Against Domestic Violence to support women in Trinidad and Tobago

As part of L’Oréal’s ongoing efforts and commitment to support women’s rights, L’Oréal Fund For Women has pledged 598,228 TTD the Coalition Against Domestic Violence in Trinidad and Tobago (CADVTT), a non-governmental coalition of organizations as well as a registered charity located in Trinidad and Tobago, to support its mission in protecting, advocating and empowering women in Trinidad.

The President of the PARE Committee and Secretary of the Family Department, Carmen Ana González Magaz, announced the signing of the collaboration agreement between the Committee and the world's leading beauty company L'Oréal Caribe. “L’Oréal Caribe has been characterized by being a very active corporate citizen in the community and with a very strong culture of volunteering. For us in the PARE Committee it is a privilege to have a partner of this caliber and I have no doubt that together we can create and develop messages of impact for the prevention of gender violence”, González Magaz pointed out.

L'Oréal Groupe: L'Oréal Caribe beautifies the national gender based violence shelters network with a message of courage

As part of its initiatives to empower and support women, L'Oréal Caribe started a beautification project around mid-year whose main purpose is to impact women who are survivors of gender-based violence with the message: Courage is the new Beauty (Valentía es la nueva Belleza). The project is conducted in partnership with the “Red Nacional de Albergues de Violencia de Género” (National Gender Violence Shelter Network) and its nine organizations across the island, consisting of transforming spaces inside the shelters with beauty equipment and furniture so that the participants in each shelter may have a designated area for personal care.
