L’Oréal is committed to accelerating the inclusion of people with disabilities, by addressing both visible and invisible disabilities, mental health, chronic illnesses and neurodiversity. The Group has set a minimum target for direct employment of people with disabilities in all countries where it operates. The goal is to create impact internally and externally for all stakeholders by eliminating stigmas and fostering accessibility.

Inclusion through innovation with HAPTA by Lancôme

Lancôme has developed HAPTA, the world's first wearable smart device designed to help people with limited hand and arm mobility apply lipstick precisely at home. This motion-stabilizing device uses technology to make beauty accessible to all, in line with Lancôme's mission to innovate for inclusion. HAPTA was unveiled at CES 2023 in Las Vegas and was named one of TIME magazine's Best Inventions of 2023 in the accessibility category.

In terms of partnerships, L’Oréal has been a leader in global initiatives to promote the inclusion of people with disabilities. We have been active members of the International Labour Organization since 2010 and were among the first to sign the Global Business and Disability Network Charter in 2015. Our participation in these initiatives allows us to share best practices and continue driving progress in inclusive innovation.

In addition, our active role in the Valuable 500 further highlights our commitment to fostering innovation that benefits everyone. By integrating these principles into our core business strategy, L’Oréal is not just participating in the conversation about inclusion—we are leading it.

Top scores in the 2024 Disability Equality Index®

L’Oréal Group is recognized for its long-term commitment to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion with several top scores in the 2024 Disability Equality Index®, a leading benchmark developed by Disability:IN.

In this year’s edition, L’Oréal USA achieved the maximum score of 100 for the seventh consecutive year. The 2024 edition was a turning point as the Index opened to countries outside the United States for the first time. As a result, L’Oréal Brazil and L’Oréal UK obtained scores of 100 and 85, respectively. All three countries have therefore been recognized as “Best Place to Work for Disability Inclusion” in 2024.

Promoting digital accessibility 

Digital accessibility plays an essential role in enabling everyone to access and understand everyday digital content. At L’Oréal, for both our consumers and our employees, this means promoting platforms, websites and applications that are designed for everyone, including people with disabilities, neurodivergent people and those with specific accessibility needs. 

We rely on digital accessibility experts and work together with internal and external partners to improve the digital experience of everyone. A comprehensive global digital accessibility e-learning program with six specific modules has been available to all employees since 2021. Awareness and training seminars are also organized regularly to educate our employees on digital accessibility. 
Additionally, the Group recently developed its Accessible Events Guidelines to ensure that our events are engaging and enjoyable for all attendees and to ensure that everyone can fully participate in the way that is most comfortable for them.
