Obaa
Meet Obaa, a driven individual whose journey from crafting creams for her sister’s acne at 12 to studying chemistry at Howard University was fueled by her dream of becoming a cosmetic scientist. Despite having no network in the beauty industry, she persevered. Today, Obaa proudly pursues her dream career on L’Oréal’s research and innovation team. She credits her parents for encouraging her to apply for the L’Oréal for Youth “Diverse Future Leaders Fellowship Program” two years ago, which kickstarted her journey at L’Oréal. Obaa’s network includes champions like Angela and Hardy, who advocated for her, Jaimie, whose feedback contributed to her growth, and her manager Maximilian, who opened doors for her. The support and mentorship of inspiring women scientists, Dr. Hawasatu Dumbuya, Dr. Stacy White, and Stacy Rambaran, were crucial in making her dreams come true.
Obaa’s story exemplifies the concept that “when there’s a will, there’s a WE,” underlining the importance of a supportive community.
