Take a look back through the history of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris since its construction, admire the building in all its aspects and discover the reconstruction following the fire in 2019.

The event, organized in collaboration between L'Oréal and the Public Institution in charge of the conservation and the restoration of the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, is premiered at the France Pavilion of the Dubai World Expo from 1st October to 1st November 2021.

In the spring of 2022, the enriched exhibition will be in Paris, at the Collège des Bernardins. It will then travel from continent to continent for as long as the cathedral's reconstruction project lasts. This is an innovative experience to share the history of the monument, and an opportunity to highlight those involved in its preservation.

"I would like to warmly thank L’Oréal for having made this immersive and innovative experience possible. Thanks to Histovery’s expertise, visitors will now be able to experience the cathedral’s restoration site from the inside and discover the expertise and skills of the different trades that have come together."

President of the Public Institution responsible for the conservation and restoration of Notre-Dame de Paris

A unique and immersive virtual experience

Thanks to the technological know-how developed by the French start-up Histovery, the exhibition is a real virtual dive into the history of the cathedral and the complexity of its architecture.

Equipped with a HistoPad, an augmented reality tablet developed by Histovery, visitors are immersed in interactive reconstructions. Thanks to them, visitors go back in time and experience the construction of the cathedral in the Middle Ages.

This innovative museographic device, combining augmented reality and tablet, allows visitors to experience how technology can contribute to culture, heritage enhancement and beauty preservation.

"L’Oréal is proud to support this project dedicated to Notre-Dame and created by Histovery. The terrible fire that struck the cathedral shocked and saddened people all over the world. This exhibition will be an opportunity to tell the story of this World Heritage treasure through an innovative and engaging interpretive experience."

Jean-Paul Agon, Chairman & CEO of L'Oréal

Using technology to serve everyone

Using the power and potential of technology to create an augmented experience is at the heart of L'Oréal's innovation approach. In recent years, the Group has made many advances in BeautyTech, developing unique services and products. Virtual and augmented reality, virtual try-on, online skin diagnosis tools, creation of customized beauty products... technology reinvents the future of beauty.
These innovations are inspired by a unique ambition: using technology to serve the individual, the consumer, by offering augmented services, advice or customized products.
Just as technology allows us to create new ways of diffusing culture and heritage, it also allows us to reinvent exchanges around beauty. By proposing new ways of exchange and communication, by offering personalized advice, technology creates and rebuilds connections.
