Shea Sourcing in Burkina Faso

Back in 2014, L’Oréal initiated one of its biggest raw materials Solidarity Sourcing projects with suppliers and NGOs in Burkina Faso. This project meets 100% of the Group’s needs in shea butter and shea olein since 2014.

The Group’s purchasing contracts ensure pre-financing of crops, respecting a fair price, access to training and the establishment of community projects to women working together within groupings of women producers. The harvesting and processing of shea nuts plays a crucial role in the women’s financial independence.

In total this project has empowered around 35,426 female beneficiaries in 2021.

Key brand contributing to the project: La Roche-Posay Lipikar Balm
