A FRENCH DESIGN

So for me, French luxury means humanity. A FRENCH DESIGN PIERRE GLOBAL CREATIVE DIRECTOR - UX DESIGN LAB WHAT ROLE DOES DESIGN PLAY? The experience brought by design will be very global. That is, today we don’t just think about the product, but we also consider the user experience. In other words, we will look at, we will observe how the user and the consumer use our objects and how we should use them in the future. WHAT IS SENSORY DESIGN? When we design from a user’s point of view, what is very, very important is to focus on sensoriality. For example, the sensoriality of a sound. We’ll talk about, for example we work a lot on lipsticks and the sound of the cap of the lipstick is very important and will influence the user’s perception, the consumer’s perception. For example, it could give them this feeling of confidence, that it won't come open in their bag. It could also give them a feeling of luxury or quality. WHAT IS THE MAIN FEATURE OF A FRENCH LUXURY PRODUCT? So, what characterizes a French luxury product, is, first of all, the creativity that has been put into it. Love, both from the creator and from the craftspeople who will be a part of the development of this project. And often, creators will look for roughness, a little discrepancy. Always with elegance, refinement. French elegance. WHAT ROLE DOES DESIGN PLAY WITHIN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT? One of the key missions of the UX Design Lab is to work on eco-desirability. So, desirability, eco-desirability, means working on new, lighter packaging that uses less material or we also talk about changing materials, changing gestures, and changing usage behavior. To this end, we have several strategies. We have the reducing material strategy and today, we are asking ourselves how can we, with less material, keep the same desirability and luxury as a heavier product? A WORD TO DESCRIBE FRENCH LUXURY? It’s humanity. It's everything that relates to hand-crafted perfection, human handiwork, and this will bring us to something of excellence, of luxury.
